This Week//Daily

This week I have been knitting, studying, playing with my gorgeous boys, throwing around pieces of yarn for the cats to play with and just feeling a little cheerier - you might say it's the weather BUT it's not - it's rained here for the past week..... no I'm just feeling happy. Anyway I thought I might stop by and share a few photos from my week.

Rusty playing with some yarn:
Toto looking a little annoyed, he doesn't like having his photo taken:
Kristofer and his Nanna Anja playing draughts; these moments are very precious:
I really need to get my camera out more, I am starting a photography OU course in October and I've become a little lazy with my camera - so my resolution? Use my camera more - my actual camera NOT just my Ipod (sometimes instagram is a little easy).........

Design//Daily

Last year I designed some t-shirts for my very first OU course; which I enjoyed very much. The graphics were fun to design, and then playing around with them on t-shirts was brilliant.
I'm now on my 2nd design course, it's only a short one but it's so much fun - I'm doing web design. It's a little different from t-shirt design and my 1st course - and in actual fact it feels like a whole world away.
I'm excited to see where web design goes, what I learn and how I apply it to my own life. My next course is digital photography; so I can learn a little more about photographing my designs and making them look as good as they possibly can. I'm enjoying this journey - it's fun and it's hardwork but more than that it makes me feel good about myself, it makes me feel strong.

Day at the Park//Photography

It's been way too long since I blogged over here, everything has been about It's a good place to knit recently. However I have been taking photos, scrapbooking, baking and I started my new web design OU course last week...... life goes on. I thought I'd stop by and share some photos from the park but I'll be back during the week with some layouts and baking stories.

Robbie recently decided he quite likes swings so long as he gets to do it himself, so I taught him how to swing properly:
My sister, Sharon, looking out to sea:
Robbie loves dandelion clock season, he makes "wishes" everytime he finds another one:
It was a little sunny for Kris, but he was having fun riding on this camel toy:
And he spent some time pushing us on this weird climbing frame that is also a roundabout - odd huh:
Overall we had a great time at the park - it was lots of fun and was so good to finally get a day without too much rain, April was rain season here definitely.
Thank you for being so patient during this time of uncertainty, it's been good getting my other blog up and running BUT having both of them has been my main aim. I'll be back later in the week.

A Quick Update//Daily

Hi,
I've started a shiny new blog (I'll still be here) but it's just for knitting, you can find it HERE, it's called It's a good place to knit (inventive huh) and my first post is already up. If you want to go follow me over there please feel free - especially if you love to knit.

In other (very quick) news, I've decided to take up a challenge set by Amy of The Happy Daisy - she has set it for lent, I just want some none computer time for a bit. So what's the challenge? Only using my computer for 45 minutes each day - I don't think it will be a problem, it will give me time to sign into blogger. I get emails and twitter through my phone, and will only reply to things that are really important!!!! I'm very excited to try this out, I'm looking forward to knitting more, creating more and spending time baking and making with the boys.

See you all soon,

My little blog is taking a break for a couple of weeks or so; I'm going to go visit a friend, catch up with some knitting, reading and sketching. It's really having a bit of New Year "ME" time. When I get back I already have a couple of feature artists lined up, Pinterest Sunday will return with PINK and I'm sure I'll have some knitting to share also.
"See" you all soon,

2012//Daily

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!

Today is the first day of 2012, I'm not making Resolutions - I tend to do that throughout the year rather than try to fit everything into the first month. I do have a few small goals for the year but I'll share them once I get started rather than today.
In 2012 we have some important things happening:
  • Kristofer will finish Nursery, and start primary school
  • I will turn 30 (OMG)
  • I will start 2 short courses with the OU
  • Robbie will start Primary 2
  • My sister is getting married!!!
It's already looking like a busy year, and it's only January.
Finally thank you so much for following my blog in 2011; I hope you hang around during 2012 - I have a few bloggy goals for the year so you'll have to stay tuned for those. Happy 2012 to all of my lovely blog followers, readers or just if you're new here.

End of Autumn//Daily

I can hardly believe that Autumn has ended; gone is pumpkin season and freshly fallen leaves but with the end of Autumn comes the beginning of Winter.... which brings freezing mornings; see your breath weather and crunchy grass.

I thought I'd stop by and share some of my favourite end of autumn photos; this first one is Rusty enjoying some pumpkin - he does entirely love raw pumpkin:
Here he is again playing with the pumpkin stalk; he loved watching us all scooping and carving the pumpkins on Halloween:
Robbie and Kristofer dressed up as a zombie and frankenstein; they were very scary and they both loved their respective costumes:
Our pumpkins were carved as a cat and a vampire; I carved them again this year - it was awesome and so much easier because we bought a special carving kit:
On Saturday night (November 5th) we went to see the fireworks; unfortunately they no longer have a bonfire but we had fun - although it was very busy. We went and spent the evening with Clare and Daniel; had some dinner and took way to many photos:
This is Clare, Jay and I looking happy but cold:
This is the first year I've actually taken firework photos; I am not the biggest fan of fireworks but I did ok and this is defintely one of my favourite photos:
I also loved this one, it captured alot of movements and looks like dancing lights:
I am excited for a winter of christmas; hot chocolate, our annual christmas crop, knitting up a storm on cold days and baking way too much.
I'll be back later this week,

3 Projects//WIP Wednesday

I personally think this year has gone far too quickly; how did it get to November already? Maybe someone put 2011 on fast-forward.....

Anyway I actually have some projects for WIP Wednesday (and I have a FO for Friday too). I am attempting the Gap-Tastic cowl; as I am definitely still a beginner I'm just doing a basic stitch for this - it's already looking good and is longer than it looks - it keeps curling up (any tips to stop that happening?). Overall I am actually enjoying this knit; and once you get past the first few rows, knitting in the round becomes much easier:
This is also a scarf, but I'm doing knit a row; purl a row - I dont know what that is called in the way of stitches); I am making this for my wife - she chose the yarn but I had hoped to be finished it by now; thankfully she is happy to wait:
And the socks; I started these in the summer and I do a row every now and again; but I'm confused as to whether I am even doing it completely right..... they take so long to knit because the yarn is thinner but I will get there - even if I only knit this ONE sock:
I'll be back on Friday for Finished Object Friday - yup the bag is finally finished!!!! Then over the weekend I have some October pics to share with you. Remember I have a new URL, so if you haven't bookmarked it - go do it now..... LOL.
