Feature Artist - Kara

~Happy Tuesday all,
~Before I introduce our feature artist for today, I just need to say I'm sorry it's so late - it's been a busy day but hopefully I'll be back on schedule next week.

~So today we have the very lovely (and only 18!!!), and extremely talented Miss Kara Haupt - she had done some fantastically awesome classes and her Etsy shop is rockin:
My name is Kara Haupt and I am 18 years old. I've been scrapbooking since age 12 and taking pictures and creating since I was 15. I live in Boise, Idaho, but will be moving to Brooklyn, NY for art school in August.

Who is your biggest inspiration???

Who? Oh dear! I've been inspired mainly by authors and random artists... Sabrina Ward Harrison, Donald Miller, Annie Leibowitz, Jonathan Safran Foer, and Anne Lamott. Sabrina Ward Harrison is a goddess of art journaling and those authors always make me want to write.

Why did you start creating?
Hmmm. I don't really know... (I've sat here thinking about this for a few minutes and I seriously have no idea!).
What is your favourite thing to create?
Probably art journal pages at 3 a.m. when I have something to say.

What are your favourite manufacturers?
Scrapbooking, I assume? Hambly Screenprints, Sassfrass Lass, and American Crafts?
You own an Etsy Shop, The Sequined Shoe, what inspired you to start this up?
I had some product ideas I wanted to try out and an Etsy shop seemed like the perfect way to do it. I <3>

You have taught several different classes, which has been your favourite to teach?
My Life Story class(http://www.etsy.com/listing/50684099/6-day-online-class-life-story) will always hold a special place in my heart. I think it's one of the more meaningful things I've ever created and it really captured who I was when I was 16. I also really loved my Summer of Love Class(http://karahaupt.typepad.com/my-blog/2010/06/summer-of-love-class-2010.html) that I ran a few weeks ago, also. I have the *best* students.
Do you create with music? If so what is your favourite creative song?
Absolutely. I rarely create in silence. Current favorite is probably Dance, Dance, Dance by Lykke Li. But then I feel like dancing so y'know.

What are your 3 must-have creative items?
Glue sticks. Emo music. And random paper.

Have you ever created anything you've hated?
Totally. Most of my scrapbook layouts have gone through a stage of hate. Sometimes I rip things apart and re-start. There are certain pages that I've made that I don't necessarily hate, but don't like to look at it or read the journaling because it reminds me too much of the place I was in when I made it.

~ Miss Kara is giving away not 1 BUT 2 prizes this week, available to 1 very lucky reader!!!! To be in with a chance to win a mixed tape kit and access to one of Kara's classes just leave her a comment.
~Thats all from me today, sorry it's short from me today but I'm ready to sleep now!!!
~love (and night night), Vicki xx
