~Happy Tuesday all,
~Welcome to another feature artist interview, with my very lovely fiancee Jay!!!! I'm so honoured to interview her - she taught me so much when I came back to scrapbooking after a break..... so here is her interview:
Hi my name is Jay (Julia) Browning, I am 37 years young, I was born in Croydon, England and grew up in South East London, I moved along with the remaining members of my family, to Fife in Scotland in 2005 and have never looked back. I started creative crafty endeavours in my early teens, starting with Cross stitching, then around 11 years ago, I became addicted by cardmaking, through which I stumbled across my current loves of Scrapbooking and Altered art. I am lucky enough to have a craftroom in my house, which I share with my partner Vic and my mum Angie, I have to confess it is fab living with other crafters, you have instant inspiration before you even start looking for it.
Who is your biggest inspiration??? Hmmmmmm that's hard as I take inspiration from all sorts of places, especially when I am scrapping, I literally take my inspiration from everyone I come across and also from places I have been and textures I touch. I do find my partner Vic an inspiration and I am totally jealous that she can let go, I am quite ridged and straight lined when I create and she has been teaching me to just let go and not care about the little things. Here are a few links to things I find inspiring. http://www.scriptfx.com/gallery/plants/leaves.jpg http://www.urbanhonking.com/universe/clouds.jpg http://irisbabaouy.typepad.com/creativecorner/ http://cathaircrafter.blogspot.com/ but like I say it so so hard as everything inspires me, this is just a taste, I hope you enjoy.
Why did you start creating? I feel a great sense of achievement when I create and I also get a sense of calm and relaxation.
What is your favourite thing to create? I don't have a favourite really, I love altered art, ATC's are such fun, a real creators quick fix but if pushed to choose Scrapbooking wins because along with the creative element you are keeping memories for future generations.
What are your favourite manufacturers? That is not hard, overall my fav. are Basic Grey http://www.basicgrey.com/scrapbook/shop/collections/status/current and Prima http://prima.typepad.com/ mainly for scrapping and cards, for altered projects I love Tim holtz, Graphic 45 and 7Gypsies. I love many other companies including American Crafts (especially Thickers) YUMMY!
Do you create with music? Yes often I do have music on. If so what is your favourite creative song? hmmmm another tough one but I am loving Adam Lambert's album http://www.adamofficial.com/uk/home/ right now and I also love the soundtracks to both Twilight and Alice in Wonderland.....oh! and anything from the GLEE cast. http://www.e4.com/glee/
What are your 3 must-have creative items? Glue (Glossy Accents), Craft knife and Pokey Tool although I would not be happy without quite a few other bits lol
Have you ever created anything you've hated? Oh! YES! lots of things, I often hate my layouts and have been known to throw them away but only a couple and I have a bag full of half done and hated layouts that I want to re-do eventually.
You create ATC's, what is it that you like about creating these? I love how quickly you can create tiny works of your own art, I find them so much fun to do and have not even really embraced the swapping aspect of ATC's but I plan to soon.
~Jay has also done this fantastic giveaway: I thought I would do a little give away of a pack of Prima stud centres and a pack of Prima Pebbles and I have thrown in a set of 3 ATC's I have created, just for fun.
~Be sure to leave a comment on this post, by Saturday night and I'll announce the winner of this fantastic prize on Monday. This is an international giveaway and you have to be in it to win it!!!
~I'll be back tomorrow for WOYWW, and my piece for the 1st anniversary.
~love, Vicki xxx
