Feature Artist - Iris

~Happy Tuesday all,
~Welcome to another interview, this week is the turn of the uber-talented Iris Babao-Uy:

I am a scrapper from ThePhilippines, a wife and a mother to two sweet girls Nicole who is five years old, and Cheska who just turned one. I rarely plan my pages – I let a photo or a patterned paper inspire me and I take it from there. I love the shabby chic and romantic style but I also enjoy working with bold patterns and striking colors. I’m an ink and paint type of person. I just have to get it a little messy to consider my page done. If I don’t have ink and paint on hand, then I just tear little bits of elements and stick it randomly for the sheer fun of it.

I am fortunate to be designing for Prima Marketing, Webster’s Pages, and Lily Bee Designs. I am also part of two scrapbook inspiration sites: Pencil Lines, and The Color Room. One of the things I consider to be among my accomplishments in crafting industry have been named as one of the 2008 Memory Makers Magazine Masters and I am thankful for the blessings which have come my way as an artist and will continue to be thankful for the happiness and fulfillment that I get from this craft.

Here is the Iris's fab interview and some of her absolutely gorgeous creations:

Who is your biggest inspiration???
I have always admired CD Muckocksky. Up to this moment, I think that she is still the most unique, talented, and gifted scrapper.

Why did you start creating?
I started creating when my first daughter turned four months old and I have thousands of pictures of her already. Scrapbooking was introduced to me and I was hooked ever since.

What is your favourite thing to create?
always 12 x 12 layouts.

What are your favourite manufacturers?
I am fortunate to be designing for them... Prima, Webster's, and Lily Bee. I also love all things Hambly, Sassafras Lass, and Hero Arts.

Of all the classes you've taught, which has been your favourite?
That would be the Kit For A Cause Class which was sponsored by Prima Marketing. We were able to donate to the Filipino communities which were devastated by typhoon Ondoy. I was amazed at how people from across the globe reached out to us and offered to help.

Do you create with music? If so what is your favourite creative song?
I used to, but ever since my daughters got control over the t.v. the only songs I can listen to now while creating are either Barney songs or Hi 5 Songs!
What are your 3 must-have creative items?
Patterned Paper, Paint, Fabric

Have you ever created anything you've hated?
Oh lots!! But I still keep them. It's the memories that are important anyway. But they are really hidden in boxes:)

~And now on to the prize donated by Miss Iris: One winner will be given access to an on-line version of a class I taught. The layout "Enjoy Life" is one of the three layouts taught in the class. It's ok if the participant does not have the exact materials because the class will focus on technique.

~So if you want to win this fantastic class, just leave a comment here and then hop over to Iris's blog and leave her some love too. Please leave you comment by 9pm on SATURDAY (GMT), and I will draw a winner on Tuesday.

~love, Vicki xxx
